I was out to dinner with some photographer friends last night and @madisonlarsenphotography made a comment about something she heard from @edenstrader
The idea is that photographers are typically in it for the ART or they are in it for the PEOPLE. While all photographers have a little of both, we tend to lean one way.
You guys, I’m it for the PEOPLE!! I’m in it for you. I love that I get to create and I love the art but that driving force is YOU! So thank you. I love you and I’m beyond grateful for you.
“You don’t need everyone to love you, just a few good people.” -Charity Barnum
I struggle a lot with others options and wanting to be loved by everyone. It’s something I’m constantly working on and slowly getting better at. For a long time I couldn’t even admit that it was an issue. But every time I look at our family photos on our walls I remember whose options REALLY matter and those who’s love means everything.
I was shooting an event once and this sobbing little girl and her parents wandered over to watch me shoot. I turn around between shots and the little girl starts frantically reaching for me. Her parents handed her to me and she snuggled me for the next 3-4 minutes until she calmed down. I handed her back to her parents and they wandered on their way. It made my whole year.
Children are ALL about energy. I’m not sure when that changes but little people feed off of adults energies. It’s how they know how to react to unfamiliar situations. My job is to be that calming, fun energy for them. The funny part is most of the time they are that for me as well. They see the true me as much as I see the true them. There is a mutual acceptance that is like no other.
This. This is why I specialize in littles and families.
Every one but Austin has had the stomach flu for the last 36 hours.... can we talk about how awful it is to have a baby with the stomach bug 😭 Anywho, we are finally on the mend though and ready to reenter to the world! What did we miss?
Also, just go ahead and zoom in on baby E. This kid KNOWS how cute he is 😂😍
I’m headed back to East Bay California in just a couple weeks! I am going to be there 3 times over 4 weeks 😅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
NorCal changed us, for the better. It will hold a special place in our hearts forever. I’m so glad I get to go back so often!! ❤️❤️❤️
Anyone else go though major ups and downs with Social Media. Most of the time I love it. I love that I can keep up with everyone even when I am far away. I love the inspiration, the beauty, and the community.
Sometimes though, I find myself falling into a major comparison hole, both personally and professionally. And I can literally destroy me for a minute. How do you avoid falling into the trap of comparison? What are the ways you pull your self out? Help a girl out 🙏🏻 #comparisonisthethiefofjoy
24-48 hour turnaround and forced friendship, what more could you want 😉
It’s important for me to get to know you and your family BEFORE the shoot so I can get an idea of your story. That way I can truly capture YOU.
I never really knew my grandpas so the connection here was so special to me. Were you close with your grandpa growing up?
Oldest to youngest views of their new sister: totally excited, pretty stoked, slightly amused-mostly terrified 😅⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please please, I’m BEGGING YOU, get your newborn photos taken!! There are so many ways to do it: Birth Story, Fresh 48, In-home family newborns. Whatever your prerogative, just do it. You will NEVER regret it. Contact me, or even another photographer, and just get them done. Mmmkay? Mmmkay.
I have a HUGE announcement coming soon!!! I’m so so excited about this one 😃. I’ll be filling you in on all the deets soon but for now just know that its all about part of your session fee going towards something More than Maylily 😉
